SpaceX is worth more than Coca-Cola or McDonald's - Elon Musk's fortune explodes

Elon Musk is said to have invested 270 million dollars in Donald Trump's election campaign - which more than paid off in the first few weeks after his election as the new US president. Since the beginning of November, the Tesla share price has only gone in one direction: upwards.

Musk: fortune rises to almost 450 billion

With a market capitalisation of almost 1.4 trillion dollars, Tesla is currently the eighth most valuable company in the world. Of course, this also has an impact on Musk's fortune, which has swollen to almost 450 billion dollars.

This means that the richest person in the world has gained 218 billion dollars in the course of this year alone - albeit largely on paper. This makes Musk twice as rich as meta-boss Mark Zuckerberg, currently number three in Bloomberg's billionaire ranking.

SpaceX is now worth 350 billion dollars

However, it is not just Tesla that is helping Musk to become richer and richer. SpaceX, for example, has recently received a major boost. The aerospace company has just increased its valuation to 350 billion dollars - an increase of 67 per cent compared to June 2024.

The increase in value was revealed as part of a share buyback programme that SpaceX also opened up to external investors, as reported by CNBC. Musk explained via X that even in view of the record valuation, there were hardly any people who wanted to sell their shares.

Investors pounce on SpaceX shares

A total of 1.25 billion dollars worth of SpaceX shares changed hands. The price for one share was 185 dollars. SpaceX itself secured its own shares with a volume of 500 million dollars. For observers, this is a particular sign of the space company's financial strength.

On the one hand, the weakness of the competition (keyword: Boeing) and the success of the Starship tests in recent months speak in favour of SpaceX. Above all, however, the run on shares reflects the hope of future government contracts.

How big is Musk's influence on US politics?

After all, Musk has managed to use his money to gain influence in US politics. As an advisor in the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), Musk is supposed to ‘restructure’ the federal authorities. These agencies include NASA. And the billionaire and Musk confidant Jared Isaacman is to become its new head.
