Google Search might soon let you attach, ask anything about a file

Drag a file to the paperclip and search away.

Google may soon introduce a feature that simplifies learning about a file. Reports and rumors suggest the tech giant is working on a tool that allows you to attach a file, search within it, and analyze its contents.

According to Android Authority, this rumored new tool from Google would allow users to upload a file using the familiar paperclip icon in the search bar, then navigate through the document. Users would be able to "ask anything about the file" directly through the regular Google search bar.

Essentially, you could upload any local file and search through it using Google, receiving answers powered by AI. Of course, you'd need to trust Google to maintain the privacy of your documents and ensure the AI provides accurate responses.

The tool was spotted and posted on X and by Khushal Bherwani, an SEO analyst who frequently posts about this sort of thing of the social media site.

Just to clarify, this is currently only a rumor based on online reports. I wasn't able to access the tool, so it's possible this is just a test feature that Google may never release to the public. However, it could be quite interesting if it ever becomes widely available.
