ChatGPT gets an upgrade: What OpenAI's Canvas can do for you
OpenAI is rolling out Canvas for all GPT 4o users, causing euphoria. Canvas will be freely available after the beta phase.

With the announcement of Canvas for all GPT 4o users, OpenAI on X has attracted a lot of attention in the online marketing industry.
Canvas can provide suggestions and additions as a creative partner and is OpenAI's first major visual update for the ChatGPT interface. The AI tool can support project collaboration and suggest text changes, add emojis, check code and correct errors, among other things.
The announcement of the extended roll-out for paying users was met with enthusiasm in the marketing industry. Whether and when Canvas will also be available for the free version of ChatGPT is still unclear - but the chances of this happening are promising. According to the company's announcement, OpenAI plans to make Canvas available to all users once the beta phase is complete.
New functions of Canvas at a glance
Canvas by OpenAI provides an interactive workspace specifically designed for editing text and code. Users can mark up and edit content directly in the window and receive precise feedback to make projects more efficient. With handy shortcuts for text adjustments and coding optimisations, collaboration with ChatGPT is taken to a new level. And now Canvas is even better, offering you the following features:
Integration of GPTs: Canvas now supports the use of GPTs to achieve personalised and powerful results.
Run and debug Python code: Python code can be executed directly in Canvas, including automatic debugging by ChatGPT based on console errors.
Improved copy-and-paste feature: The new copy-and-paste experience makes it easier to import text and code into Canvas to speed up workflows.
Canvas: efficiency booster with room for discussion
Many marketing managers praise the efficiency and scalability of Canvas. The tool could reduce time-consuming content creation and create more room for strategy and testing. Some commentators on X are therefore also enthusiastic about the extended roll-out. Ronny Bruknapp (@RonnyBruknapp) writes, for example:

And Evinstein (@Evinst3in) also comments very positively and writes:

At the same time, there are also critical voices. In the official OpenAI community forum, some users express concerns that the high level of automation provided by Canvas could dilute the brand identity. In addition, some of the tool's real-time functions raise data protection issues, particularly with regard to the processing of personal data. Although OpenAI assures that Canvas complies with all data protection regulations, many are calling for more transparency about data usage and security.
Canvas is in an early beta version and is currently only available to paying users. Edu and Enterprise customers should gain access in the coming days. Canvas will only become freely available after the beta phase.
